Khayla Deans is a cultural worker, herbalist, and creative consultant who understands the power of storytelling as a tool for healing and collective care. As a multi-hyphenate artist who has created and amplified the stories of others through various mediums, she believes that art and culture are necessary strategies for empowerment & liberation. As a spiritual herbalist, she invites others to the creative process of healing through the partnership of supportive plant allies.
Khayla holds a dual degree in Public Policy and African American Studies from The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and is a spiritual herbalism apprentice of clinical herbalist Karen M. Rose. She leverages her expertise in arts administration, management, and creative direction as the co-executive director of The Beautiful Project. She also provides wellness, herbalism, and radical arts healing workshops to the broader community. Over the years, she served as a coach for artists at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Hear US program that is designed to advance the voices and stories of BIPOC students. She also served as a consultant for social justice organizations and philanthropic institutions through her work at Frontline Solutions. Presently, Khayla takes delight in offering a multisensory storytelling experience about life, plant medicines, and music via her newsletter, A Cup of Tea & Jams.
