Danielle Sherman is passionate about cultivating cultures where organizations align with shared values, norms, and customs that foster an environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to the mission and vision of the collective. Danielle uses her knowledge and skill of individual and group executive coaching, and training to build the capacity and leadership skills of staff in state and local government agencies, philanthropy, community-based, and nonprofit organizations. Thereby helping these institutions to implement strategies that support the wellbeing of staff and the communities they serve, particularly populations that have are negatively impacted by systems of oppression. In her last role at SHIFT NC (Sexual Health Initiaves for Teens North Carolina), Danielle served as a Project Manager for a federal grant initiative where she trained and facilitated a 15+ community organization/resident member advisory group that represented a variety of systems with touchpoints to address teen pregnancy, birth, and sexually transmitted infection. She also participated in the development of SHIFT NC's 5-year Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan and an equitable approach for implementation.
Prior to that, Danielle Sherman served as Safe Routes Partnership’s Healthy Places and Parks Manager where she was responsible for advancing the Safe Routes to Parks Activating Communities grant program at the local and national level (through technical assistance and coaching to a variety of communities) to increase safe and equitable access to parks and advance concrete equity commitments in the field of active transportation. Danielle Sherman also worked as a Project Manager at Healthy Places By Design to build the capacity of communities to become healthier. Previously, she served as the Project Manager for Active Routes to School, a partnership between the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the North Carolina Division of Public Health to support Safe Routes to School efforts across the state and a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Public Health Prevention Service Fellow at the North Carolina Division of Public Health.
Danielle Sherman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Spelman College. In May 2011, she earned a Master of Public Health in Health Education/Health Promotion from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and received the Honor Graduate and Academic Achievement Awards. Ultimately, Danielle’s teachings have rooted her in her lifelong role as a convener to listen, create a culture of trust and belonging, support and harness the power of people to create positively impactful changes for the well-being of all. She enjoys connecting with her loved ones, decluttering and organizing, and naps.
